Matt Vik gives the Cougars the win

St. Paul, Minn. – The University of Minnesota, Morris men's soccer team notched a 1-0 win over Northwestern today (Oct. 22), breaking a scoreless tie midway through the second half.

The game went scoreless for into the intermission, and for nearly 20 minutes coming out of the break as shots were at a premium on the day. The Cougars had just two shots in each half to finish with four on the way while Northwestern managed only seven from their offense.

Matt Vik (St. Paul, Minn.) got the one that counted for the Cougars, as he took a Dustin Lee (Alexandria, Minn.) pass and slipped it past the Eagle goalkeeper for the deciding score at the 62:37 mark.

The win for the Cougars is a little payback, as the Eagles came into Morris earlier this season and handed the Cougars a 1-0 loss back in September.

Tyle Weber (Erie, Colo.) got the start in net for the Cougars, and stopped all four shots he saw to record the win.  The Cougars will now play Crown on Oct. 23 to wrap up the road trip as the season continues to wind down.
