UMAC Men's Soccer Championship
Fresh off their season ending 2-0 win over Bethany Lutheran on Oct. 29, the Minnesota Morris men's soccer team will enter the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament (UMAC) as the No. 2 two seed.
Morris will host third seeded Northwestern in the first round on Nov. 1, kicking off on Cougar Field at 2:00 p.m. The other semifinal will see top-seeded St. Scholastica host fourth-seeded Crown.
The Cougars finished 11-4-2 on the season and 10-2-0 mark in UMAC play with their only losses in conference play coming to regular season champion St. Scholastica.
Visiting Northwestern wrapped up the regular season 9-8-2 overall, with an 8-3-1 UMAC record. The Cougars won both meetings with Eagles on the season, taking a 1-0 game in St. Paul, before cruising to a 3-1 win on Oct. 20 in Morris.
That win over the Eagles started the Cougars' current four-game winning streak as closed the regular season, also winning eight of their final nine games.
The Cougars will be looking to win their fifth straight UMAC Tournament semifinal game, having appeared in the championship game in each season since 2007. Last season on the road in the first round as the three seed, the Cougars' scored a 3-2 overtime win over Bethany Lutheran, before falling 4-1 to St. Scholastica in the championship.
Morris is also in search of its first NCAA Tournament appearance, as the UMAC Tournament Champion receives an automatic bid to the DIII national tournament.
