Aberdeen, S.D. – The Minnesota Morris volleyball team made quick work of Presentation today (Oct. 4), sweeping the Saints in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action.
The Cougars hit .340 as a team – including a blistering .448 in the second set – and won by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-19.
Morris (11-5, 3-2 UMAC) was led by a trio of players with 11 kills, including Allie Humphrey (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Emily Auch (Benson) who each hit .500 on the night. It was a season best hitting percentage for Humphrey, while Auch hit the .500 mark for the third time.
Kaylie Clark (Garden Plain, Kans.) also added 11 kills – taking a match high 33 swings – while also adding six digs and a block assist.
Presentation (2-17, 1-4 UMAC) hit just -.071 in the match, peaking with a .278 in the first set, before bottoming out with a -.156 in the third where they had just six kills and 11 errors.
Reigning UMAC Setter of the Week, Natalie Thomas (Champlin, Minn.), dished out 40 assists, a career high for a three set match. She set three players to .500 hitting marks, while also adding three kills of her own.
The Cougars hit .390 in the first set, chalking up 19 kills in the 25 points, before hitting .448 in the second with just one error.
Brita Humphrey (Minnetonka, Minn.) led the defense with 15 digs, with Auch, Thomas and Michele Hanson (Benson, Minn.) each adding nine. Clark finished with six, seeing her streak of double-doubles come to an end at three matches.
The Cougars will return home this weekend, continuing UMAC play hosting Bethnay Lutheran on Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. and Martin Luther on Oct. 8 at 1:00 p.m.
