Arden Hills, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris men's soccer team won their second straight to open conference play on Sept. 17, posting a 1-0 win over Northwestern at Mounds View High School.

At the 62:30 mark, the Cougars' Ebrima Badgie (Banjul, The Gambia) scored the first goal of his Morris career, using an assist from Matt Johnson (Monument, Colo.) to put his team up 1-0.

Ebrima scored on one of just three Cougar shots in the second half, as the defenses dominated with just seven shots from the two teams combined in the period. The match finished with each team posting nine total shots, with Morris holding an 8-to-2 edge in corners.

Badgie finished with a pair of shorts in the match, leading the team as each went on goal. Toby Glaser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Cougars with three total shots, the fourth time this season he has posted at least three.

Goalkeeper Tyler Weber (Erie, Colo.) finished with four saves, posting his fourth shutout in the season's first seven games. He has already matched his shutout total from last season, and has an .886 save percentage and averages just one goal allowed every two games.

The Cougars move to 3-2-2 on the season, and stand unbeaten in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) after the first weekend with a 2-0-0 mark. Northwestern, however, falls to 1-5-0 on the season and 1-1-0 in UMAC action.

The Cougars return home next weekend as they continue UMAC play, hosting St. Scholastcia at 2:00 p.m. on Friday Sept. 23, and Northland at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25.
