MORRIS, Minn. – After going 2-0 on the road last week the Cougars (2-3) welcome Valley City State (5-2) to town tomorrow for a 7:30 p.m. tip. It is the first of two home games for the Cougars this week and UMM will not be home again until January 8
th after Friday's game.
The Cougars went 2-0 last week thanks to two great efforts from
Brendon Foss. Foss averaged 21 points and nine rebounds over the two game stretch. Against Mayville State, Foss had 22 points and ten rebounds shooting 8-9 from the field and 6-8 from the foul line. Against Presentation, he had 20 points and eight rebounds. He was again hot from the field going 7-10. Foss increased his points per game average from 4.7 to 11.2 last week.
Evan Reller had 13 points against Presentation and is averaging 9.8 points per game on the year.
Ben Hoidal also had a breakout week scoring 28 points after shooting 6-7 from the field including 4-4 from three point land. Hoidal also did a great job getting to the line going there 17 times and making 12 of his attempts. He was a balanced scorer scoring 15 against Mayville and 13 aginst Presentation.
Valley City State has won four of their last five regular season games and is coming off a 13 point loss to MSU Moorhead in an exhibition. The team is ranked 19
th in NAIA Division II Poll and has four players averaging 10 points per game. Sekani Milligen is leading the way averaging 19 points and is a three point shooter who makes 41.9% of his shots from beyond the arc. The Vikings also have two scorers averaging 13 points per game.
