Morris, Minn. – The Cougar Men's Soccer team will open its 2012 season with a tough test in MIAC's St. John's Jonnies. The two teams will play on Cougar Field at 4pm on Friday August 31st. The Cougars are looking to get on track right away and continue the success that they found last year finishing as UMAC runners up and winning the UMAC tournament in a 6-5 shootout over St. Scholastica to get an automatic bid the NCAA tournament. They traveled to Dubuque, Iowa to face the 12th ranked Duwhaks from Loras. The team fell 2-0 to the Duhawks but with the taste of national competition the Cougars are looking to improve on last year's successes.

The Cougars finished the 2011 season with a 12-5-4 overall, 10-2 UMAC record, and a trip to the NCAA tournament.
The Jonnies were eighth in the MIAC in 2011 with a 9-8 overall , and 4-6 MIAC record.

This will be the third year in a row that these two teams have met for their season opener in 2010 the final result was a tie, last season the Jonnies got the win 2-0, as for this season… we will have to wait and see what tomorrow evening brings.

The Cougars will not get much time to reflect on the game as they will face Luther from Iowa on Saturday September 1st in St. Joseph at 4:30pm.
