Dubuque kept it close in the first set and forced UMM to take a timeout when Chad Braegelmann felt the momentum slipping away. The timeout worked as UMM built back a lead midway through the set 14-10. The lead would get as large as seven when UMM took the 20-13 lead. UD got within three at 22-19 but Morris kept them from tying the set up and won set one 25-20.

It was all Minnesota Morris early in set two as they jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead.  The Spartans rallied to get within one but never tied the match up. UMM built a five points lead at 21-16, after UD had cut it to 17-16 and won set two 25-20.

Minnesota Morris again jumped out early in the third set going up 4-1 and then went streaking to jump from a 7-5 lead to a 16-7 lead outscoring the Spartans 9-2 during the run. The lead got as large as nine on three different occasions but it was not until Clark put a kill down to give UMM the 25-15 set three win that would seal the match.

In the nightcap Carleton was able to upend the Cougars 3-1 despite a career high 13 kills from Abby Tietz.
