Badgie Hat Trick Leads UMM to Win

Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris Cougars (5-5-1, 5-1 UMAC) won their fifth match in six opportunities beating the North Central Rams (3-6-1, 2-4 UMAC) 7-1 on Saturday afternoon. Ebrima Badgie picked up a hat trick to lead UMM.
 
The scoring started early for UMM and it continued throughout the first half. Devin Chuba opened up the scoring in the sixth minute scoring off a rebound after his breakaway chance was saved. Scott DeVries had the great through ball to send Chuba on net. Almost exactly ten minutes later Ebrima Badie had his first of two goals in the half scoring in the 16th minute when Matt Vik hit him in the box with a cross. Badgie took once touch and then beat the keeper.
 
Badgie picked up his second goal of the match in the 22nd minute scoring on a breakaway after Matthew Bennis sent him free on net. Ravi Butler poured in the fourth goal of the half as he turned and struck a ball from 24 yards out just over the outstretched keeper.

Minnesota Morris had 19 shots and nine shots on goal in the first half as the Cougars built the four goal lead.
 
North Central picked up a goal in the 55th minute to cut the lead to 4-1 but it seemed to wake the Cougars offense up as they once again started to pour in the goals. Badgie completed the hat trick in the 59th minute as he dribbled around the keeper and scored.
 
Mitchell Boster picked up his first goal of the season in the 70th minute as a cross went off the keeper and Boster finished it off in the back of the net. John Hastings scored the seventh goal of the match for the Cougars as he got a nice cross from Michael Ward and scored. Finhas Ogbazghi got the second assist on the goal.
