MORRIS, Minn. –The women's team will head New Ulm and Mankato, Minnesota this weekend for an important double-header against the Martin Luther Knights (5-11, 3-2 UMAC) and Bethany Lutheran (4-12, 2-3 UMAC). This will be the Cougars (8-7, 5-0 UMAC) first time matching up with these two teams this season.

Last year the women's team split with Martin Luther, losing the first game 75-73 but coming back to the second game 70-63. The two teams squared off again in the UMAC Conference Championship where the Knights bested the Cougars 69-63. Minnesota Morris holds the all-time series lead over the Knights 13-8.
The Cougars are averaging 74.4 points a game in conference play while only giving up 47.2. They are shooting 46.7% from the field and holding opponents to 31.8% in UMAC play.
That was last year. This year the women's team has started conference play with an undefeated 5-0 record. Leading the squad has been a solid group of players consisting players from every graduating class. Senior
Emily Mehr has come back from and leads the UMAC in scoring, averaging 22.5 points per game. Senior guard
Kelsey Erickson is currently averaging in conference play 4.0 assists per game has a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio, which is good for 5
th and 10
th in the UMAC respectively. Junior
Abby Fragodt has been cleaning up the boards averaging 10.8 rebounds per game, which puts her 2
nd in the conference in that category. Sophomore
Kendra Wycoff has been averaging 17.0 points per game and 3.4 steals per game in conference play, which is 4
th and 3
rd in the UMAC. Freshman Kayla Kramer has been playing strongly and is averaging 9.4 points per game in conference play. Sophomores
Emily Auch and
Connor Lewis have been playing big minutes for the Cougars giving them the depth they need to make a run in the playoffs.
After the game on Saturday the Cougars will have played all seven teams in the UMAC which will signify the midway point of the conference season.
