ST. PAUL – Minnesota Morris dropped a tough match to Northwestern University, St. Paul on Friday as the difference was a 45th minute goal right before half time. The Cougars outshot the Eagles 11-10 on the day but came up short in a physical game that had 29 fouls combined.

It was an even first half as both teams had their chances to score. Morris had two shots on goal in the first 19 minutes but could not convert. Northwestern had a few chances in the opening moments of the game as well but like the Cougars could not get on the board. With less than a minute to play in the first the Eagles scored on a shot from Joshua Fryc.

Ebrima Badgie saw his shot go wide in the 48th minute as he tried to tie the match. Both keepers made some saves early in the half and the match stayed 1-0. Badgie tried to tally the tie breaker in the final second of the match but it was saved and the Cougars fell in defeat.

Morris will now travel across the river to take on North Central tomorrow at noon.
