Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – The men's soccer team struck first in the UMAC Championship in Saturday but four second half goals by the Saints proved to be too much. The Cougars were out shot 18-3 on the afternoon and played down a man for the final 20 minutes of play.
Trent Holmes scored his first goal of the year and his career, giving the Cougars the 1-0 lead in the 38
th minute of play. The Cougars went into the break with the 1-0 lead thanks to a pair of saves by
Jacob Borash.
In the 54
th minute an own goal allowed the Saints to tie the match up. They would take the lead in the 60
th minute on a breakaway and then made it 3-1 in the 63
rd minute. After the Cougars picked up a red card in the 71
st minute of the play the Saints were able to run out the clock. They would add a goal in the 89
th minute to make the final 4-1.
Minnesota Morris finishes the year 12-9-1 and the UMAC runner up.
Ebrima Badgie finishes his career with 75 points after picking up the assist on the Holmes goal. He is third all time in school history for points scored. His 31 career goals are also third all time.
