Cougars Swept By Rutgers-Camden

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MYTRLE BEACH, S.C. – The Cougars dropped both of their matchups with Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday falling 8-0 and 3-1. Mandy Allman scored the only run for Minnesota Morris on the day as she picked up two walks in the second game of the double header.

The first two innings in game one were silent for both teams as Rutgers-Camden's leadoff hit was the only hit in the first two innings. RUC scored twice in the top of the third, one of them unearned but the Cougars could not respond. It would stay 2-0 until the fifth when RUC exploded for six runs; the final three were all unearned. Minnesota Morris got a two out HBP in the bottom of the fifth but did not score and the game ended 8-0.

It was much closer in the second game of the day. Rutgers-Camden scored first in the bottom of the first. RUC's leadoff hitter singled and scored on a one out ground out to short. Minnesota Morris would come back with a run of their own in the top of the second, knotting the game at one. Allman led off with a walk, was sacrificed to third by Kristy Hoge and scored on Shelby Peterson's double to right. The Cougars would load the bases with two outs but did not push across another run.

Cassie Sowada singled to lead off the fifth inning after Rutgers-Camden opened up a 3-1 lead, scoring a run in the third and fourth. Unfortunately for the Cougars it was the only hit they could muster in the final five innings as they would fall 3-1.

The Cougars are off until Friday when they take on Mansfield.
