Scots Take Two From Cougars

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. – In the 2013 season opener the Cougars fell to the Macalester Scots in both games in the Monday double header. The Scots won 12-4 in the first game thanks to a pair of homeruns from their designated player. In the second game Macalester scored four runs in the top of the fourth to open up a 6-1 lead on their way to a 7-1 victory.
 
After a one, two, three first inning the Scots scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning thanks to three doubles. Macalester got three more runs in the bottom of the second to extend their lead to seven. The Cougars got those three runs back in the top of the third. Sam Hanson led off with a single followed by a double by Brooke Decker to put runners on second and third. After a ground out, Jessica Gordon walked to load the bases for Molly Olson. Olson doubled to plate Hanson as Decker was thrown out at home. Kelsey Draper then singled to score Gordon and Olson.
 
Macalester responded with five runs to blow the game open. Kristy Hoge scored an un earned in the top of the fourth but the Cougars fell 12-4 in the first game.
 
In the second game, the Scots again jumped out early, scoring a run in the top of the first. Minnesota Morris tied it up in the bottom of the second as Shelby Peterson walked to start the inning and scored on a throwing error. The Scots got that run back in the top of third and then scored four more in the top of the fourth taking a 6-1 lead. The Cougars could only manage a double in the sixth inning as they would fall 7-1.

Minnesota Morris is back in action Friday, March 15 as they take on St. Benedict's in a double header starting at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Cloud Dome.
