PELLA, Iowa – In the land of tulips, it turned up roses for
Kaylie Clark after she won the javelin at the Central College Open on Saturday. Her throw of 42.6m was over six meters more than anyone else in the field. The women had 15 top-ten finishes on the day and the men had 12.
Anna Peterson, tenth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:04.04.
Laura Borkenhagen took fifth in the 800m run in a time of 2:26.75.
Amanda Peters ran the 3000m in a time of 1:21.46 to finish third, two spots ahead of teammate
Rachel Wingenbach who finished in a time of 11:43.85. Kaitlinn Kamm had a pair of top five finishes taking second in the high jump with a height of 1.47m and fifth in the 100m hurdles finishing in 15.88.
Alicia Doerr was second in the pole vault with a height of 2.90m; her teammate
Connor Lewis was seventh with a height of 2.60m. Doerr had another top-five finish on the day, taking fourth in the long jump with a 4.90m jump.
Kat Nelson took eighth in the shot put, throwing 12.06m and tenth in the hammer with a throw of 42.00m.
Katia Vantries took eighth in the hammer with a throw of 44.83m.
Amber Hosie took seventh in the javelin tossing 30.77m.
On the men's side
Chalmer Combellick led the way with a second place finish in the 1500m run after completing the race in a time of 4:03.70.
Nathan Harder was fifth in the 110m hurdles after he ran a 15.82 in the finals.
Nicholas Solberg took seventh in the 100m dash in a time of 11.59.
Josh Lozancich was eighth in the 800m after finishing in a time of 2:00.23.
Ryan DeRoeck had a pair of top-ten finishes, taking sixth in the 400m hurdles and ninth in the 110m hurdles. He finished the 400m in a time of 57.19 and the 110m in a time of 16.07.
Erik Brady took fourth in the pole vault reaching a height of 3.45m and Zachary Smith took seventh with a height of 3.30m.
Nate Walters and
Ben Kettler each had two top ten finishes to lead the Cougar throwers. Walters was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 13.16m and ninth in the hammer with a toss of 44.60m. Kettler took seventh in the hammer and eighth in the discus. His hammer throw reached 44.60m and his discuss went 38.48m.
