Box Score MORRIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris Cougars dropped their home opener 2-0 to Concordia University Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon to fall to 0-2-0 on the young season. It was the start of seven straight home matches for the Cougars, who are back here Friday against Concordia Moorhead.

The Cougars had the first scoring chance of the match as
Matt Vik saw his early opportunity snatched up by the Falcons keeper. In the sixth minute of play Nicolas Bocanegra converted on a free kick from about 30 yards out to put CUW on top. The two teams had a few more chances in the first half but could not score as Concordia took the 1-0 lead into the break.
Vik had another chance in the second half but was stopped again by Eric Voge,l who picked up the cleansheet in the victory, stopping three UMM shots. Josiah Ochoa would score the second goal of the match for Concordia as he took advantage of rare mistake by the Morris defense.
Shingo Yamane tried to play the ball back to freshman keeper
Matthew Yost but the volley attempt out from Yost fell at the feet of Ochoa. Ochoa wasted no time and struck a ball low in the corner to make it 2-0 in the 67
th minute. Yost would finish the game with five saves on the afternoon.
The match against Concordia Moorhead will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday as the Cougars will look to pick up a win over the Cobbers.
