Box Score 4 ST. PAUL – Minnesota Morris had four matches this weekend at the Macalester Invite in Saint Paul. The Cougars went 2–2 over the two day tournament.
In the opening match against Wisconsin Stout the Cougars lost a hard fought five set match. After falling in the first set 25-15 the Cougars reversed and won set two 25-12. Stout came right back with a 25-17 set three win and then Morris tied up at two with a 25-20 set four win. The fifth set was close but it was Stout who took the match with a 15-13 set five win.
Emily Auch and
Hannah Knott each had 11 kills in the match.
Kaylie Clark had 26 digs to lead the defense.
In the second match on Friday evening the Cougars picked up a four set win over Carleton. Morris won set one 25-22 before dropping set two 25-19. UMM rebounded nicely winning set three 25-18 before closing the match out with a 25-23 set four win. Auch had 13 kills and
Abby Tietz had 11. Clark one upped herself from the first match, collecting 27 digs.
It was another five set thriller for the Cougars in the opening match on Saturday as they fell to Wisconsin-Superior. Superior took the first set 25-19 before Morris evened it up with a 25-15 set two win. The Cougars won set three 25-13 but Wisconsin-Superior won the next two by scores of 25-14 and 15-6. Tietz led the way with 17 kills and Auch had 15.
In the final match of the tournament the Cougars beat Macalester 3-1 for the first second time in the week. Morris hit .271 in the match as Auch had 19 kills, three shy of her career high. Tietz added 11 and
Cori Becker had nine.
Mandy Allman had 23 assists as the Cougars collected 60 kills.
Hannah Knott and Tietz each had three blocks. The score line was 25-20, 26-28, 25-16, 26-24.
