Box Score MINNEAPOLIS – An early 16-0 run sparked the Cougars on Saturday, responding with a decisize after their first conference loss in over a year on Friday night. Minnesota Morris would go on to beat North Central 80-51.
Emily Auch had a game high 20 points.
North Central scored the first three points of the first half yet Morris took control of the game early, scoring the next 16 points, six each by Auch and
Kayla Kraemer and four by
Tori Holt. The Cougars would maintain a double digit lead for a majority of the first half and went in to the break leading 40-25.
In the first half Minnesota Morris was led by Auch, who had 14 points. Holt added eight, Kraemer had six and
Brooke Decker had seven in the first 20 minutes.
Abby Fragodt and Holt led the Cougars on the boards, each with six rebounds.
The lead grew as large as 21 early in the second half thanks to six straight points from Auch. The Cougars would remain in cruise control for the next 15 minutes of play never letting the Rams get closer than 20.
Jessica Love hit a free throw with just over four minutes left in the game to give the Cougars a 30 point lead, their largest of the game up to that point as they went on to win 80-51.
Holt just missed a double-double, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds. Off the bench, Decker added eight and
Jordan Zickermann had seven. Every Cougar player that got in to the game on Saturday scored. Morris finished with 59 rebounds, including 26 offensive rebounds. The defense forced 22 turnovers which resulted in 31 points for the offense.
The Cougars will be back home next weekend hosting Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran.
