MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (5-4-2, 4-1-2) earned a big three points on Wednesday, thanks to an 85
th minute goal by
Zachary Jacobson to beat Martin Luther (3-7, 3-4 UMAC) 1-0 in Morris. The same two teams will meet again tomorrow, this time in New Ulm at noon.
The Cougars moved into second place in the conference with the win and sit one point ahead of Crown as the second half of the UMAC season gets underway this weekend.
Morris will look to continue its streak of tough defense into the second half of the UMAC schedule; currently they rank second in the conference allowing just .81 goals per contest in conference games.
Offensively the Cougars have got contributions from 13 different players this year. In addition, 12 different players have goals this year.
Shingo Yamane leads the way with ten points and four goals through 11 games.
