NEW ULM, Minn. – The Cougars (6-4-2, 5-1-2 UMAC) used three different goal scorers to earn a 3-0 win over Martin Luther (3-8, 3-5 UMAC) on Saturday afternoon. Minnesota Morris outshot the Knights 25-8 in the match including an 11-1 advantage in the second half.
Shingo Yamane put Morris on the board in the 31
st minute scoring unassisted. It was the long goal in the first half as Morris held a 14-7 advantage in shots.
Bennett Purfeerst scored in the 51
st minute to double the Cougars lead. He scored thanks to the help of
Michael Schuweiler.
Zachary Jacobson scored on the Cougars next shot in the match, making it 3-0 in the 59
th minute of play.
Morris will now travel to Northwestern and North Central next weekend.
