ASHLAND, Wis. – For the second straight Friday the Cougars (4-3-2, 3-0-2 UMAC) earned a 6-0 win, this time doing so at Northland (3-7, 1-5 UMAC). Once again Minnesota Morris had six different scorers in the match.
Luqman Barre scored his first career UMM goal in the 9
th minute, putting the Cougars ahead. Less than a minute later
Michael Schuweiler made it 2-0, thanks to an assist from Barre. Minnesota Morris would end the half with ten shots on goal, going into the locker room with a 2-0 lead.
Morris had three quick goals in the second half, which gave them a five goal cushion.
Devin Chuba scored his third goal of the year in the 60
th minute after a pass from Schuweiler.
Jacob Sphatt scored his second goal of the year in the 62
nd minute thanks to help from
Shingo Yamane. Yamane then got a goal of his own in the 63
rd minute to make it 5-0.
Konrad Laack added his first Morris goal in the 74
th minute to complete the 6-0 win. The Cougars now head to Duluth to take on St. Scholastica at 2:15 p.m. tomorrow as they try to knock off the 2014 preseason favorites.
