MORRIS, Minn. – It wasn't the Minnesota Morris Cougars (12-4-1,9-2-2 UMAC) day on Friday afternoon as they fell 5-2 to the St. Scholastica Saints (17-2, 13-0 UMAC). The Cougars scored in the opening minutes of the match but the Saints proved to have too much firepower to hold them off.

St. Scholastica outshot the Cougars 15-4 in shots on goal in the match. Devin Chuba headed home a cross from Michael Schuweiler in the 5^th minute to give the Cougars the early lead. In the 16^th minute St. Scholastica tied it after pass found Kyle Farrar who had a wide open net.

In the 31^st minute Shawayane Folkes gave them a 2-1 lead after a nice individual effort and chipped the ball past the keeper.

Just nine minutes into the second half the Saints made it 3-1 on short corner and then a shot from about 35 yards out. It became 4-1 in the 69^th minute after a UMM defender misplayed the ball and a Saints player knocked into an open net. Just two and half minutes later it was 5-1 after a header went in off a Saints player.

Shingo Yamane converted a penalty for the Cougars in the 89^th minute but it was too little, too late for Morris.

The Cougars will look to rebound tomorrow at noon against Northland. Prior to the match Minnesota Morris will honor their 2014 senior class.
