MORRIS, Minn. – The Cougars (12-5-2, 10-2-2 UMAC) wrapped up the regular season with a big 5-0 win over Northland College (4-14, 2-12 UMAC) on Saturday afternoon. Five different players scored, including two seniors on senior day at Cougar Field. The Cougars honored 11 seniors prior to the match.
One of those seniors,
Jacob Borash earned the shutout for the Cougars, making one stop in 90 minutes of action. Morris had 12 shots on goal and a total of 27 shots overall in the match.
The scoring started in the 24
th minute when Lugman Barre put the ball inside the upper ninety. About ten minutes later senior
John Hastings had a great shot from just outside 20 yards to make it 2-0 at the half.
Shingo Yamane scored just under seven minutes into the second half thanks to some help from senior
Dan Stoterau, who picked up his second assist of his career.
Devin Chuba scored in the 78
th minute from just outside the 18, making it 4-0. The final goal of the match came in the 84
th minute as
Tyler Sorenson scored his first goal, coming from inside the box.
Minnesota Morris will now host the UMAC Semi-Finals on Tuesday at 2 p.m. They will take on Northwestern.
