MORRIS, Minn. – The Cougars (14-5, 6-1 UMAC) made quick work of Northland (1-11, 1-6 UMAC) on Saturday morning, sweeping the LumberJills (25-10, 25-3, 25-9).
Marissa Ekness had 12 kills in two sets to lead the offense.
Holly Duren added eight kills and MaKenzie Schaffer had seven.
The defense held Northland to -.122 hitting on the day, forcing 23 turnovers while allowing just 14 kills. The LumberJills scored 16 total points off kills, aces and blocks on the day, while receiving 16 points from Cougars errors, service aces and ball handling errors.
In the first set Morris hit .300 while holding Northland to -.217 hitting.
Emily Auch and Schaffer each had three kills in the opening set.
Hannah Terhaar had five digs in the set.
The second set was even better for the offense, who hit .500 on 26 attempts. Ekness had seven kills alone in the second set on nine attacks.
Minnesota Morris closed it out with a huge 25-9 win in the third set as the offense just kept rolling along.
