MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (7-4-1, 6-0-1 UMAC) finished their first half of the UMAC schedule blemish free after beating Martin Luther (5-6, 4-3 UMAC) 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Cougars did not give up a goal throughout the first half of the UMAC campaign, shutting out all seven opponents.
Martin Luther had a chance to go on top in the 3
rd minute but
Torri Jordan was there to make the save for UMM. A couple moments later
Christina Mollan headed a ball that was saved off the line by a Martin Luther defender.
Emma LaChance had a scoring chance in the 15
th minute but the MLC keeper made the save, keeping the game scoreless.
LaChance scored her fifth goal of the season in the 25
th minute getting the ball back from a defender and bending a shot over the keeper from the left side of box. About five minutes later
Carly Denler headed in a cross from
Kelsi Kolle to make it 2-0.
Morris held a 10-3 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes of play. The Cougars also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks and held the ball for a majority of the first half.
The match stayed 2-0 for until the 73
rd minute when Denler scored her second goal of the match following a great solo run by
Molly Hancuh. After going around three defenders Hancuh delivered a pass to Denler, who calmly finished it off for the goal.
The Cougars will make the return trip to Martin Luther on Saturday afternoon, taking on the Knights at 2:15 p.m.
