MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (14-5-1) advanced to the UMAC Championship match on Friday thanks to a 3-0 victory over the Bethany Lutheran Vikings (8-12-1). It took until the second half to get on the board but the Cougars solved the Vikings defense in the end.
Morris was dominate in the first half and nearly scored early off the foot of
Kelsi Kolle but Megan Zeller was there to make the save. Zeller would finish the match with 16 saves for the Vikings. The Cougars had 15 shots in the opening half however they could not get the ball to bounce in the back of the net.
Early in the second half
Emma LaChance gathered a blocked shot and deposited the ball into the goal. About twenty minutes later the Cougars stayed in possession after a corner kick and eventually Rachel Berns found Kolle who took care of the rest.
With the Bethany Lutheran Vikings pushing forward at the end of the match, UMM was able to counter offensively.
Christina Mollan found a streaking
Molly Hancuh in the middle of the field. Hancuh found a way to get past the keeper and easily slid the ball into the net for the Cougars third goal of the match.
