JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Minnesota Morris (0-10, 0-9 UMAC) was unable to pick up a win in their final game of the season falling 14-7 to MacMurray (3-7, 3-6 UMAC) in Illinois. Morris was able to manage just 179 yards of total offense.
Cody Hickman finished his career with 496 total tackles in his career, fourth all-time in NCAA Division III history.
The Cougars defense kept them in the game, holding MacMurray to 14 points on 64 plays. They held the Highlanders to just 112 yards passing.
MacMurray was able to control the game on the ground running for 265 yards on 47 carries. The Highlanders took the lead in the first off a 79 yard touchdown run. A quarter later MacMurray finished off a 15 play drive with a one yard touchdown run.
The Cougars defense held MacMurray to just 19 yards in the third quarter and 56 yards in the fourth quarter but did not receive help from the offense, who had 52 yards in the second half.
After driving to the MacMurray 26 yard line,
Caleb McLaren was picked off halting the Cougar drive. The Defense forced a punt on the next drive.
Shain Powers blocked and returned a punt 30 yards for a Cougar touchdown. Unfortunately for the Cougars they could not get the ball back on offense and fell 14-7.
