Box Score 2 DULUTH, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (21-17) had their season come to an end on Saturday after dropping a pair of games in the UMAC Tournament. The day started with a tough 5-3 loss to St. Scholastica. They then lost 8-0 in six innings to Northland and were eliminated from the tournament.
Jordan Iverson put UMM ahead in the top of the first inning in game one, thanks to a single up the middle scoring
Cassie Sowada. The lead disappeared in the third after the Saints hit a three run homer.
St. Scholastica added an insurance run in the fourth and fifth, which proved to be very important.
Molly Olson extended her hitting streak to 26 games in the top of the seventh, but more importantly drew the Cougars to within two after driving in Meghan Pomeroy and
Mandy Allman.
Ultimately Morris would not complete the comeback, falling 5-3 after leaving a runner on first.
Sam Hanson's 21 game hitting streak came to an end in the first game of the day.
The Cougar bats were held in check in the elimination game, mustering just five hits in their 8-0 loss. Hanson and Iverson each had two hits in the game but they did not get much help from others in the lineup. Olson had her hitting streak ended in the final game of the season after a 0-3 game.
Morris finishes the season with 21 wins, their most ever under coach
Heather Pennie-Roy and most in school history dating back to 1986.
