Offense Explodes in Win

MORRIS, Minn. – Morris (2-3-1, 1-0-2 UMAC) exploded for six goals on Friday and completed a 6-0 shutout of Northwestern (1-7-1, 1-2 UMAC). The Cougars had six different goal scorers on the day. Devin Chuba had four points, a goal and two assists.

Jacob Sphatt scored his first goal in a Cougar uniform to start the offensive attack on Friday. His 19th minute goal was scored from the left side of the box, putting it past the keeper. Joshua Bartles made it 2-0 in the 26th minute, bending a shot from an almost impossible angle and sneaking it inside the post.

It took a while for the Cougars to score again but when they did the flood gates opened up. Momadou Jallow scored on a great volley to get it over the keeper and under the crossbar, making it 3-0 in the 72nd minute. Less than ten seconds later Devin Chuba took advantage of defender's mistake to make it 4-0. It was then Shingo Yamane's turn to score, doing so in the 75th minute. In the 84th minute John Hastings took a shot from 25 yards out on the right side of the field, and got the ball to drop underneath the cross bar.

Morris ended the day with six goals on seven shots on goal. The Cougars outshot Northwestern 15-2 in the match. Cody Christ did not have to make a save in the match, earning the clean sheet.

Minnesota Morris will look to make it two straight tomorrow afternoon, hosting North Central at 2:15 p.m.
