MORRIS, Minn. – The Bethel Royals (4-7-2) came to town on Tuesday and left with a 4-0 victory over Minnesota Morris (3-11). The Royals scored three goals in a span of 22 minutes in the first half to gain control of the match. Morris finished with four shots on goal.
Bethel threatened right away but
Jacob Gindt cleared a ball off the line in the first minute to keep the Royals off the board. Unfortunately in the tenth minute Bethel broke the scoreless tie with a nice individual effort from Kevin Hintz. They doubled their lead in the 20
th minute. Another Royals goal came in the 32
nd minute, when Ryan Nichols' free kick found the foot of Carson Tomas.
The match went to half with the score reading 3-0 in favor of Bethel. The Royals outshot Morris 11-3 in the first half. The half featured eight corner kicks, six for BU.
Joshua Bartels nearly put the Cougars on the board in the 57
th minute but the Royals keeper made a nice diving save to keep the match 3-0. Late in the half Deo Mungruriak volleyed home a free kick to push the score to 4-0.
Minnesota Morris will be back at home this Saturday when they host Crown in a crucial UMAC match at 3:15 p.m.
