MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (4-10, 4-4 UMAC) stopped a four match losing streak on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Crown College (1-10-3, 1-6-2 UMAC).
Luqman Barre scored his first goal of the year in the 37
th minute and it was all the Cougars defense needed.
UMM outshot the Storm 11-2 in shots on goal in the match. Crown's goalie made ten saves to keep his team in the match but it was not enough. The Storm did their best to boom the ball forward and hit a striker on the run, especially late in the match, but Morris continually turned them away.
Minnesota Morris had looks at the net early in the match but the first nine attempts came up empty. Barre's second shot of the match found the back of the net.
Calvin Barker assisted Barre on his 37
th minute goal.
In the second half Morris threatened over and over but could not break through for their second goal. Crown had a few chances late in the game to tie it up but
Cody Christ was there each time to keep UMM off the board.
On Wednesday the Cougars will host Bethany Lutheran at 3:15 p.m. in a crucial UMAC Conference matchup. Morris has just two more UMAC matches left in the conference season as they look to lock up a spot in the UMAC Tournament.
