MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (4-11-1, 4-4-1 UMAC) had the ball for most of the match but could only manage one goal in a tie with Bethany Lutheran (4-11-3, 3-4-2 UMAC). The Cougars finished the match with 24 shots, six on frame but only beat the Vikings keeper once.
Bethany Lutheran took a 1-0 lead in the 22
nd minute taking advantage of a Morris foul. Jorge Perez stepped to the spot and just beat
Cody Christ. About eight minutes later
Joshua Bartels drilled a shot from the right side of the field and snuck it inside the far post. Morris finished the half with an 11-1 lead in shots.
The Cougars kept pushing in the second half, trying to find a second goal. Unfortunately shot after shot went begging. The match moved to overtime and Morris put up three shots in each ten minute session but did not find the back of the net.
Morris is still in fifth place in the UMAC but do have a chance to move up in the standings this weekend when they play North Central in Minneapolis.
