Yu Ito tied a school record with four goals and
Molly Hancuh added three goals and three assists in the Cougars 10-0 victory over Crown College (3-11-1, 0-8-1 UMAC). Minnesota Morris (6-6, 5-3 UMAC) scored six times in the first half to blow out the Storm.
The Cougars offense came ready to go on senior day scoring in the fourth minute of play.
Yu Ito scored her third goal of the year to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
Molly Hancuh made it 2-0 in the eighth minute thanks to a pass from
Lindsay Clay.
Carly Denler got into the scorebook in the 20
th minute, scoring her fifth of the season. Hancuh picked up her second goal six minutes later to make it 4-0, scoring off a corner.
Morris would score their fifth and sixth goal of the match just a minute apart. Clay scored in the 34
th minute and Ito added her second goal of the match in the 35
th minute.
Morris started the second half with a goal just 97 seconds in. It was the third goal of the match for Hancuh. Senior
Ivie Brooks made it 8-0 in the 58
th minute making her senior day one to remember.
Ito tied a school record when she scored twice in about a minute, pushing the lead to 10-0. The second goal in the flurry was her fourth goal of the game, tying a school record. She is the sixth Cougars to have four goals in a single match.
The nine points by Hancuh is tied for the third most all-time in a single game.
UMM outshot Crown 48-8 in the match, they had 29 shots alone in the first 45 minutes of play. Next up for the Cougars is home date with Bethany Lutheran on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
