MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Molly Hancuh recorded her third hat-trick of the season in the Cougars (8-6, 7-3 UMAC) 7-1 victory over North Central (8-9-1, 2-6-1 UMAC). She now has 37 points this season, just one shy of fifth all-time in school history. She now has 16 goals which is tied for third most in a single season in UMM history.
Yu Ito started the scoring in the third minute with the help of
Ivie Brooks and
Carly Denler. Seven minutes later
Molly Hancuh converted her first of two penalty kicks in the game. Denler made it 3-0 with a goal in the 16
th minute. Morris had 14 shots in the first half.
North Central got a goal back in the 48
th minute, scoring off a penalty kick. The Cougars got the goal back in the 51
st minute when Ito scored her second of the contest. Brooks picked up her third assist on the goal. Hancuh added another penalty kick goal in the 71
st minute. Brooks picked up a goal herself just 35 seconds later. The day was complete when Hancuh scored her hat trick with a goal in the 74
th minute.
The Cougars will take on Wisconsin-Stout tomorrow afternoon in their final regular season match. They will then wait to find out who and when they play in the UMAC Tournament. Currently Morris is the fourth seed with results still to come for a couple UMAC teams.
