NEW ULM, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (4-5, 3-3 UMAC) snapped their three match losing streak in conference play with a 3-1 win at Martin Luther (2-9-1, 1-4-1 UMAC). Three different scorers got on the sheet in the victory.
Denler scored in the fourth minute, tapping in a cross from
Madeline Youakim, giving the Cougars the start they needed.
Molly Hancuh scored her ninth goal of the year in the 19
th minute stealing the ball from a defender and placing it in the back of the net.
Jenna Maurer pulled the Knights to within one with a goal in the 33
rd minute.
Yu Ito got the goal back in the 36
th minute thanks to a pass from
Emma LaChance.
Morris finished the first half with 16 shots and seven shots on goal.
Torri Jordan made two saves in the first 45 minutes of action.
The Cougars continued to threaten in the second half, racking up 12 shots in the second half but could not increase their lead. The defense ramped up their pressure and finished off the 3-1 victory. Jordan finished with six saves in the contest.
Morris will be back in action Saturday, taking on Wisconsin Superior on the road.
