Cougars in Search of Road Tournament Win

MORRIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris Cougars (5-12-2) will have their second crack at Wisconsin-Superior (15-5) on Wednesday afternoon when the two teams battle in the UMAC Tournament Semi-finals. It is the first matchup of the two teams in post season play in school history. Earlier this year the YellowJackets upended the Cougars 3-0 in Superior.

The Cougars were in the middle of a four match scoreless streak when they met up with Wisconsin-Superior during the regular season. Since that match the Cougars were able to score a goal in five of the final six matches of the regular season. Morris finished 2-1-2 in the final five matches of the year. They are hoping to carry that form into tomorrow's match and come back home to Morris with a win.

Minnesota Morris has relied on a team effort offensively this season. A total of 11 different players have scored a goal this season. Morris is 5-2-2 when they score at least one goal this season.

The defense has kept the team in several contests throughout the year. The Cougars have played in nine matches that have featured a tie or one goal differential; they are 1-6-2 in those matches.

The equation for a victory tomorrow will require stout defense effort and sharp shooting. Morris is averaging 12.5 shots per game with 43% falling on frame. Morris may need to make the most of their offensive looks against Superior to pull off the victory.

The winner of tomorrow's match will advance to the UMAC Championship on Sunday. St. Scholastica is hosting Bethany Lutheran in the other UMAC semi-final.
