Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 FORT MYERS, Fla. – Minnesota Morris went 1-3 over the weekend to kick off their spring trip. The weekend started with a 5-4 loss to Mount Mary before a 6-1 win over Bridgewater State. On Sunday UMM fell 10-1 to Kenyon College and 5-1 to Nazareth College.

SATURDAY:

vs. Mount Mary

In the first game of the day Mount Mary got off to a good start scoring three unearned runs in the top of the first. Morris would get a run back in the bottom of the fourth when Meghan Pomeroy scored on a throwing error. The lead got cut to one in the bottom of the fifth thanks to an RBI fielder's choice from Clare Hamer.

Mount Marty responded with two runs in the top of the sixth to go back up three, 5-2. Molly Olson got the Cougars back in the game with a double to left center scoring Gina Downie and Autumn Mahoney. Morris had a chance to tie the game in the seventh, putting a Paige Larson on third with two outs but a ground out to third ended the game and the Cougars chances.

vs. Bridgewater State

Minnesota Morris was the team that jumped on top in the second game of the day, scoring three runs in the first inning. Olson singled home Downie to start the scoring. With the bases loaded Hamer hit a grounder to first and the BSU first baseman threw home to cut down Alex Anderson at the plate, the catcher then threw to third but the throw got away. That allowed both Cassie Sowada and Olson to score on the play.

BSU got a run back in the bottom of the first to cut the Cougars lead to two. The lead would get pushed back to three in the top of the second when Larson scored on a passed ball. After a scoreless third inning Morris picked up two unearned runs on a throwing error allowing Mahoney to score all the way from the plate while trying to sacrifice Larson to second. Larson scored all the way from first on the play.

SUNDAY:

vs. Kenyon College

The Ladies took a four run lead in the top of the second inning thanks to three hits, a walk, and an error. Morris got a run back in the bottom of the inning thanks to a single by Larson, scoring Pomeroy. The game stayed that way until the top of the seventh when Kenyon exploded for six runs to win the game 10-1. Morris was held to four hits in the game while Kenyon had 16 hits.

vs. Nazareth College

Alex Anderson helped UMM strike first with a one-out single and would score the lone Cougar run. Morris would only get hits in two other innings in the game as Nazareth's pitcher settled in.

The Golden Flyers evened the score in the second inning and took the lead in the third inning of play. The Cougars would stay within one after getting out of a bases loaded jam. Unfortunately UMM never got the offense going and Nazareth scored three runs in the seventh to clinch the win. Morris loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh but never got the big hit before falling 5-1.

Morris is off today before returning to action on Tuesday morning.
