MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (14-14) softball hosts Concordia-Moorhead (9-22) today in a non-conference matchup at Cougar Field. The two teams will play a pair of games starting at 3 p.m. It is the final scheduled non-conference game for the Cougars, who have clinched a spot in next week's UMAC Tournament.
 
The Cougars are looking to recover from a 1-3 road weekend last Friday and Saturday with a pair of non-conference wins. It is the first non-conference doubleheader against a single team since opening up the season against Macalester on March 1. Morris is 2-9 in non-conference games this season.
 
Concordia comes into the doubleheader having lost 11 straight games. They are 6-5 in non-conference games in 2015. On the road the Cobbers hold a 3-11 record.
 
Offensively the Cougars are hitting the ball extremely well this season, averaging .310 as a team, an average that would rank in the top five in school history. Seven different Cougars are hitting over .310 with Gina Downie leading the way with a .400 average. Additionally; Paige Larson, Molly Olson, Alex Anderson, Meghan Pomeroy and Autumn Mahoney are all hitting over .350 this season.
 
The pitching and defense will look to clean things up as the regular season comes to a close early next week. The team ERA is hovering just above five and the Cougars have committed a little more than two errors per contest.
 
The short road to the UMAC Tournament begins today and the Cougars look start that trip with two victories.
