MORRIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris (17-17) softball team will take aim an UMAC Tournament Championship this weekend in Duluth. Morris enters the tournament as the number two seed and will take on Northwestern (14-25) at 10 a.m. to kick off the double elimination tournament.
Morris took two of three against the Eagles this season and if they can win their matchup at ten tomorrow they will play at 4 p.m. in the winner's bracket game. If they fall they will play at 2 p.m. in the elimination game. St. Scholastica (27-13) enters as the number one seed and pre-tournament favorite. Crown (13-25) rounds out the four team field, making it to the UMAC Tournament for the first time in program history.
This season the Cougars offense has carried them to another UMAC Tournament bid. As a team UMM is hitting .297 and has seven players hitting over .300 on the season.
Alex Anderson is hitting over .400 this season and slugging .477. Five different Cougars have an on-base percentage over .420 this year, led by Anderson.
Molly Olson leads the team with a .585 slugging percentage leading the team with ten doubles and three homers.

Mariah Essig will look to control the opponents from the pitching circle. The team ERA has shrunk over the last few games, holding opponents to just two earned runs per game including two shutouts.
The Cougars are in search of their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
