MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Michael Dockendorf delivered again for the Cougars (14-23, 8-11 UMAC), pitching a three hit shutout in the Cougars 14-0 win over North Central (6-25, 1-18 UMAC). Morris racked up 15 hits, including four from
Eric Terres on the day.
The Cougars went up early scoring a run in the top of the first when
Jackson Gessell drove in Terres with a sac fly. Gessell delivered again in the third, putting Morris up 2-0. The inning did not end there as the Cougars scored twice more and UMM went up 4-0.
Minnesota Morris busted the game open with eight runs in the top of the fifth.
Evan Ellingworth got the scoring started with a bunt single, driving in
Donnie Mavencamp.
Devin Waldvogel and Terres each added RBI's putting Morris up 7-0. A throwing error followed making the game 9-0. Gessell had another RBI, driving in Terres once again. The final two runs of the inning scored on Mavencamp's two run double to left center.
Before it was all done the Cougars scored twice more, all coming in the sixth inning, making the final score 14-0. The two teams will meet again tomorrow for a doubleheader starting at noon.
