St. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (0-5, 0-1 UMAC) could not find the net once again as they fell 1-0 to Northwestern (1-3, 1-0 UMAC) to open up conference play. Morris had six shots on goal but could not beat the UNW keeper.
It was quiet first half for both teams with just three shots on goal in the half. The Eagles led that category 2-1. The first half featured several fouls but no cards were given out.
Early in the second half
Luqman Barre hit the crossbar and unfortunately the match stayed tied at zero.
Bona Usha had a free kick saved in the 63
rd minute for Morris.
In the 78
th minute the Eagles struck when Mateusz Granlinski found himself all alone against
Cody Christ and put the ball in the back of the net. The Eagles nearly made it 2-0 in the 88
th minute but the ball hit off the post, keeping UMM's chances alive.
Jacob Sphatt had the last chance for the Cougars in the 89
th minute but his shot was saved and the Cougars fell to 0-1 in the UMAC.
