MORRIS, Minn. – Molly Hancuh tied a school record with four goals in the Cougars (2-2, 2-0 UMAC 6-0 win over Martin Luther (1-4, 0-1 UMAC). Morris outshot the Knights 17-8 on the afternoon.
Torri Jordan stopped all five MLC shots on goal in the game, earning her second straight shutout.
Hancuh started the scoring spree early, capitalizing on a pass from
Lindsay Clay. Once with the ball Hancuh flicked it over the keeper. In the 34
th minute
Carly Denler recovered a ball in the box and quickly put it past the Knights goalie. Less than four minutes later Hancuh was on the ball again, this time taking advantage of a loose ball in the penalty box. As the half was about to expire Hancuh let go a shot from about 20 yards out and scored over the keeper as the horn sounded. It gave Hancuh a first half hat-trick but she was quite done.
Just 36 seconds into the second half Hancuh tied the school record by scoring her fourth goal of the match. She battled in the box against two defenders before getting free and calmly putting it in the back of the net. The final tally came when
Yu Ito scored her first career goal in the 52
nd minute by going around the defender near the end line and placing the ball in the net.
