MORRIS, Minn. – The Cougars (2-6, 2-1 UMAC) picked up a 4-2 win over Northland (1-7, 0-2 UMAC) on Saturday afternoon with goals by four different players. Morris outshot the Lumberjacks 16-8 in the match.
Victor Aanerud scored off a corner in the 18
th minute to put Morris up 1-0 early on.
Joshua Bartels picked up the assist on the UMM goal. The first half was a close battle back and forth with the Cougars holding a 4-3 lead in shots in the first half.
Early in the second half
Lucas Bonkrude scored his first goal of the year to put Morris up 2-0 in the 48
th minute.
Austin Keller scored his second goal of the year to put Morris up 3-0 in the 63
rd minute.
Jacob Gindt picked up the assist on the Keller goal. Just five minutes later Bartels picked up a goal thanks to some help from
Shingo Yamane.
Northland tried to make a late comeback but came up short. The Lumberjacks scored in the 77
th and 90
th minute of the match.
Minnesota Morris will be back in action on Wednesday when they play Macalester at 7:30 p.m.
