MANKATO, Minn. – Bethany Lutheran (6-3-2, 4-0-1 UMAC) remained in first place with a 1-0 victory over Minnesota Morris (3-4, 2-2 UMAC) on Tuesday afternoon. The Cougars outshot the Vikings 15-8 on the day but could not find the back of the net.
In the first half the Cougars forced the Vikings keeper to make six saves. In the 40
th minute a shot by
Carly Denler was cleared off the line by a Vikings defender.
In the second half Bethany picked up a 69
th minute goal to go up 1-0. Morris had three chances after that to tie the match but could not do so.
The loss to the Vikings was the first since the 2012 season when Bethany beat the Cougars 1-0 in Morris. UMM will look to rebound against St. Scholastica on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. at Cougar Field.
