ST. PAUL, Minn. – On a hot and humid day the Cougars struggled as Hamline raced to an early lead and beat Morris by a score of 40-7. Morris forced a turnover and blocked a kick in the contest.

Donnie Mavencamp found
Kyle Petermeier for a five yard touchdown with 10:02 left in the third quarter. The Pipers scored on their first drive of the game and extended their lead to 14 with five minutes to play in the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Pipers added a field goal and touchdown to make it 24-0 at half.
Mavencamp finished the day with 89 yards passing and 25 yards rushing. Mavencamp also had seven punts and averaged 39 yards per punt.
Petermeier finished with nine catches and 75 yards to go with his touchdown. It was new career high in catches for Petermeier.
Defensively Sergio Natividad and
Clayton Douvier led the team with ten tackles each.
Chandler Erickson had seven tackles and an interception. The defense did a great job controlling All-MIAC running back Austin Duncan who had just 76 yards on 16 carries.
