MORRIS, Minn. – A seventh inning run carried the Minnesota Morris Cougars (7-13) to a 2-1 win over Concordia-Moorhead (12-11) on Wednesday afternoon.
Tyler Hannan picked up his first career victory and
Thomas Eckstein recorded his first save of his career.
The Cougars had a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the first but stranded runners on first and second. Morris would do the same thing in the bottom of the third inning. Concordia got on board first, scoring a run on a one out single by Turner Storm in the top of the fourth. Minnesota Morris responded in the fourth with a two out RBI double off the bat of
Zach Kuefler, scoring
Bryce Jergenson.
The bats went silent for both teams until the bottom of the seventh. After two quick ground outs
Jackson Gessell singled, advanced to second on an error and then stole third. A fielding error kept the inning alive allowing Gessell to score, giving Morris a 2-1 lead.
Concordia picked up a single in the ninth but no more and the Cougars held on for a 2-1 victory.
