MORRIS, Minn. – Minnesota Morris (5-9) fell 6-1 to Concordia-Moorhead (11-7) in the 2016 home opener. The Cougars were held to three hits on the afternoon, one each by
Connor Spindler,
Willie Fust and
Alex Anderson.
Trent Johnson drove in the lone run for Morris.
A RBI single through the left side put Concordia up 1-0 in the top of the second inning. The Cobbers made it 3-0 in the third inning with a RBI single and a run scoring on the throw to second after a stolen base.
In the bottom of the third inning Johnson drove in Anderson, drawing the Cougars within two. In the top of the sixth inning a two run homer to left field put the Cobbers up 5-1. Another RBI single in the top of the ninth made the final 6-1.
Minnesota Morris is back at home Saturday against St. Scholastica at 1:30 p.m. for the first UMAC double header of the season.
