ST. PETER, Minn. - In games moved from next week in Morris to Wednesday afternoon at the new field turf in St. Peter, the Minnesota Morris baseball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader at Gustavus Adolphus by scores of 3-1 and 6-1.
Game 1: GAC 3, UMM 1
Sam Melchior pitched six solid innings for the Cougars allowing only three runs on six hits while striking out three. Gustavus ran out five pitchers and held the Cougars to two hits. The Cougars put together a rally in the seventh, loading the bases with one out, but only scored once in dropping the opener by two runs.
Game 2: GAC 6, UMM 1
Gustavus sent out a smorgasborg of pitchers to limit the Cougars to one run again. Five pitchers combined to allow four hits.
Michael Head started on the mound for UMM.
Thomas Eckstein pitched 2.2 innings of no-hit relief.
Brady Jergenson singled and scored in the seventh.
Minnesota Morris (1-13) are next scheduled to play Saturday, April 7 at Bethany Lutheran.
