Cougars run into a Storm against Crown

St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Cougar Football team (1-4, 1-2 UMAC) started strong but could not keep up with the Crown Storm (3-3, 2-2 UMAC) as they fall by the score of 28-18.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Crown College started the scoring in the first quarter on a 26 yard TD pass which would be their only points of the first half.
  • The Cougars would not be outdone in the next possession they would score on a Daniel Frances pass to Branden Carlson of 3 yards and Kaden McKibben would tack on the extra point.
  • In the third quarter the Cougars would take the lead with a 37 yard Kaden McKibben field goal, off a sack fumble forced by Marcos Luna that was recovered by Matt Menth.
  • The Storm would score 21 unanswered points to take a 28-10 lead in the 4th quarter with 3:08 left in the game.
  • Drew Shipley and Nathan Sheridan would hook up for the last 8 points of the game the touchdown came on a 36 yard pass and then a 2 point conversion on a short pass.
NOTABLE
  • Drew Shipley had the longest passing play of the season of 36 yards
  • Kaden McKibben kicked the longest field goal of the season.
  • The Cougar defense had 5 sacks on the day.

The Cougars will have the University of Northwestern visiting Big Cat Stadium next Saturday Oct. 19 with the kickoff scheduled for 6pm.
