Vikings Too Much for Cougars

NAIA Valley City State tops Cougar football, 67-7

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris football team (0-2) fell to NAIA opponent Valley City State (2-1), 67-7, Saturday night at Big Cat Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Valley City led Minnesota Morris 23-0 after one quarter of play.
     
  • The Vikings took a 39-0 lead over the Cougars into halftime.
     
  • With three quarters in the books, Valley City led UMN Morris, 60-0.
     
  • Trailing 67-0, Cameron Geyer caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Francis to put the Cougars on the board with 5:50 to play.
NOTABLES
  • Francis made his debut for the Cougars and threw his first touchdown pass.
     
  • Mondo Calderon led the Cougars in tackles with nine.
     
  • Islam Shariff and Payton Hruska each four had solo tackles.
     
  • Calderon recorded a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
     
  • Adam Farag also had a forced fumble.
