MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris football team (0-1) dropped its home opener to Wisconsin-River Falls (1-0), 45-7, Saturday night at Big Cat Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-River Falls struck just 1:01 into the game as Sam Altena scored on a two-yard run.
- The Falcons added to their lead with 5:04 to play in the opening quarter as Alex Herink connected on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Ben Beckman.
- Later in the first quarter, Luke Fugate tallied a six-yard touchdown run to make it 21-0 with 1:29 to play in the opening stanza.
- Bobby Patterson hit a 31-yard field goal to put the Falcons up 24-0 with 13:33 remaining in the second quarter.
- UW-River Falls added to its lead with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Beckman to Alex Traxler with 10:40 to go in the first half.
- The Falcons led the Cougars, 38-0, at halftime after Altena scored on a three-yard touchdown run with 1:11 left in the second quarter.
- The final points for the Falcons came on a Lance Waalen five-yard run with 8:11 remaining in the third quarter.
- The Cougars got on the board via a 17-yard touchdown run from senior quarterback Justin Masloski with 12:20 to go in regulation.
NOTABLES
- Masloski was 11-for-34 for 117 yards, which included a 24-yard pass to Branden Carlson on the Cougars first possession.
- Masloski has rushed for 11 career touchdowns.
- Connor Oldenburg had a career-best 14 tackles, which included 12 solo tackles.
- Nathan Sheridan caught three passes for 35 yards.
